| ITU-R WP8F Special Meeting held in Seoul for revision of IMT-2000 M.1457 Recommendation | |

Hosted by MIC (Ministry of Information & Communication) and organized by TTA, ITU-R WP8F Special meeting was held during 29~31 August 2007 at Seoul Grand Hyatt Hotel to draw international consensus for inclusion of Mobile-WiMAX in ITU-R M.1457 Recommendation. Intense discussion on technical feasibility for Mobile-WiMAX as one of IMT-2000 technologies were made during the meeting. Specially the meeting was focused on the discussion of the handover technology, multimedia service and circuit switched service, which are the minimal technical requirements for IMT-2000. Also, the revision of the related recommendations on the spectrum requirements for Mobile-WiMAX was discussed. At the result of this meeting, 3 Recommendations, M.1457-6, M.1580 and M.1581, will be submitted for approval to the ITU-R RA2007 meeting in October. In addition, demonstration of WiBro, the world's first commercialized Mobile-WiMAX, showed that WiBro was capable of providing variety of multimedia services. Over 150 participants, including national delegates from U.S.A., Europe, China, Japan and Korea, attended this meeting. |
