78th Technical Assembly Held

From September 25 to October 10, the 78th Technical Assembly was held via electronic methods with agenda items such as adoption of the TTA standards. In this assembly, 44 TTA standards including a ‘VoLTE interworking specification between Korean MNOs’, ‘Transmission and Reception for Digital Cable UHDTV Broadcasting’ and an ‘Operational Standard for Audio Loudness Level of Digital Broadcasting’ were adopted and 30 previous legacy standards of the revised standards such as ‘Recommendation on Photographing Sound Level of Mobile Phone with Still Image or Motion Picture Function,’ were abolished. In addition, the Assembly decided to recommend 3 standards essential for interoperability including standards for ‘Voice Quality Criteria of Internet Telephony’ and a ‘Control and Monitoring Protocol of Security Light based on Duplex Wireless Network’ to be established or revised as a Korea Communications Standard (KCS). Moreover, the ‘Guidelines for Handling Intellectual Property Right in relation to ICT Standardization’ were revised to actualize the standard-related IPR letter of commitment, so as to have the contents of the IPR letter of commitment be disclosed on the web without being specified in the standard.
