Jung Sang-guk selected as an IEA expert
Jung Sang-guk (Senior Researcher) of TTA IT Testing & Certification Laboratory was selected as an expert in the field of networked standby power for IEA (International Energy Agency). IEA, an independent organization that establishes international energy policies, consists of the 28 OECD member states. International energy policies established by IEA are proposed as recommendations for establishment of policies in each member state and have been influencing energy policy establishment in Korea. So far, energy policies have been discussed centering on the issue of energy saving in stand-alone products, such as TVs and refrigerators. However, in response to the rapid increase of the IT convergence products, the ways to lower standby power in networked products has been discussed recently. To embark on the activities, IEA has launched a networked standby power project with experts from each member state. From Korea, TTA’s Jung Sang-guk will partake in the project. Jung will attend the first meeting to be held in Stockholm, Sweden on May 7 to give a presentation on the trends of home networks and smart household appliances in Korea. Based on his experiences of developing energy technology standards and testing home networks in Korea, it is anticipated that Jung will make contributions to the establishment of international energy policies.
