ZigFest Seoul 2006

From January 24 to January 26 TTA hosted the ‘ZigFest Seoul 2006.’ This event laid the foundation for providing stable ZigBee service through interoperability tests of ZigBee equipment. ZigFest, organized by the ZigBee Alliance, which is an international ZigBee standardization organization, is the most prestigious interoperability test event held in different places around the globe on a quarterly basis. It is the first such event ever held in Korea. A total of 11 companies participated in this event: 4 local companies including Samsung Electro-Mechanics, RadioPulse, Korea Wireless Network (KORWIN), and 7 foreign companies. Only the equipments of those manufacturers which passed the interoperability validation for level 1 (physical layer and data link layer), level 2 (network), level 3 (application), Security, and level 2 networking (golden device network) underwent a full meshed network interoperability test called the FOD (Field of Dream) test. In addition, one of the test programs of ZigBee, i.e. the pretest for ZCP (ZigBee Compliance Platform), which certifies the ZigBee module and platform used as components for a ZigBee end product, was conducted along with the authorized testing lab. Currently, only 10 or so equipments made by foreign manufacturers obtained the ZCP certification, and this event provided an opportunity to confirm the possibility that the ZigBee equipments of domestic companies can obtain ZCP certification as early as the first half of this year.
