The 10th CJK IT Standards Meeting held in Gyeongju
Hosted by TTA, the 10th CJK IT Standards Meeting was held at Hotel Hyundai Gyeongju for three days from 7 April to 9 April 2010. The three countries exchanged the results of their candidate technology evaluations for 4G mobile communication (IMT-Advanced), which is currently being reviewed by ITU-R WP5D, and changed the name of B3G WG to IMT WG to expand the work scope to include post-3G and post-4G technologies. In addition, the three countries are expected to efficiently promote international standardization and reinforce their initiative in the global scene by coordinating their collaboration at the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) and IEEE 802.16m Task Group for IMT-Advanced Systems. Meanwhile,  Network-based RFID (N-ID: Networked IDentification) Working Group discussed method for unifying OID-based code system, which is jointly pursued by Korea and Japan at the ITU-T SG16, and changed the name to NID/USN WG to include USN in its work scope. Also, NGN WG changed the name to UNIOT (Ubiquitous Networking in support of Internet of Things) to include Internet of Things (IoT), Smart Grid, Cloud Computing and Ubiquitous Network in its work scope.
The CJK IT Standards Meeting, which began with TTA’s initiative in 2002, laid a foundation for the tripartite cooperation, and has since contributed to collaboration among the three countries as well as international standardization. The 10th meeting was more meaningful as it further reinforced the tri-lateral cooperation, and strengthened collaboration among the three countries is expected.
