TTA‘s 2007 Project Description and Directions

TTA (President, Hong-Koo Kim), the provider of 「One-stop Service for IT Standardization」, such as establishment of IT standardization strategies, enactment and amendment of standards, and standard conformance testing and certification, announced it's 2007 projects: i.e. enacting and amending more than 600 TTA standards, and providing full-scale testing and certification service for key IT technologies, such as WiBro, DMB, WCDMA, embedded SW, and WUSB.

In the standardization sector, with the grand aim of leaping from the position of a standard follower to that of an international standard leader, TTA is planning to reinforce cooperative relationship between the 3 key elements of domestic standardization activities, i.e. the ‘TTA standardization committee,’ the ‘IT standardization strategy forum,’ and the ‘international IT standardization experts,’ and develop TTA standards in key domestic technologies, such as IPTV, IMT-Advanced, WiBro Evolution, Mobile RFID, and next-generation web. In addition, TTA will also concentrate its energies on standardization for greater user convenience (i.e. mobile phone interface specifications), standardization for revitalization of the market (i.e. satellite broadcasting/telematics standards), standardization for increased public interests (i.e. disaster communication/broadcasting standards), and standardization of advanced technologies (i.e. Cognitive Radio).
In addition, to strengthen international standardization activities, TTA will host international standardization conferences such as the 「7th CJK IT standards meeting」and 3GPP (IMT-2000), focusing its efforts to reflect key domestic technologies, such as BcN, IPTV, RFID, and 4G, to international standards. It will also continue its global standardization of WiBro and terrestrial DMB data broadcasting which were successfully commercialized last year.

  - In the testing & certification sector, TTA has provided international and domestic testing and certification services more than 4,500 times in areas such as network, SW, digital broadcasting, and mobile communication since the establishment of the testing & certification labs in 2001. Based on this know-how, TTA is planning to provide testing and certification services for 69 types of core IT technologies, including WiBro, DMB, WCDMA, embedded SW and WUSB in 2007. To accomodate this, TTA will set up and execute the details of the following 5 tasks; building the testing infrastructure that meets the requirements of the IT companies early, expanding technical cooperation with related agencies and organizations both at home and abroad, securing key testing technologies, fostering and training professionals and efficiently supporting national testing resources by cooperating with relevant agencies and organizations.   The end.
