TTA starts RFID (Radio Frequency IDentification) Certification

TTA (Secretary general, Kim Hong-Koo) announced that it would start the full-scale TTA certification service for passive RFID readers and tags in the 900MHz (908.5 - 914MHz) range.

The RFID readers and tags in the 900MHz range are currently applied widely in diverse areas, such as logistics, distribution, transportation and production. So far, RFID has mostly been used in government-led pilot projects, but as the RFID applications got diversified and the related market got larger, the market needed RFID products with more outstanding quality.

Accordingly, TTA finally have established quality assessment criteria for RFID readers (fixed and portable) and tags in the 900MHz range, and now offers TTA certification service based on RFID tests, including conformance, interoperability and performance.

TTA's 900MHz range RFID certification service is expected to be used in diverse areas, such as distribution, logistics, transformation, u-City, home network and security. Equipment manufacturers will now be able to take full advantage of TTA RFID certification to obtain the quality of their RFID products validated, and more RFID systems will be implemented on the basis of certification results in the market.

TTA has laid the foundation for providing the market with outstanding readers and tags complying with domestic RFID regulation and international standards. Moreover, this move is expected to make great contributions to improving the quality of RFID equipment in Korea, including RFID products made in Korea, and therefore, increasing the market competitiveness.
