TTA-NTS Starts the ZigBee Certification Testing Service

On 2006 June 9th, TTA (Secretary General Kim Hong-Koo) announced that it granted the TTA-NTS ZigBee IEEE802.15.4 certificate for MG2400, a ZigBee module from RadioPulse Inc. (CEO Wang Sung-Ho), for the first time in Korea.

In a bid to conveniently provide domestic companies with ZigBee Alliance's testing service, TTA signed an agreement for ‘cooperation in ZigBee certification testing’ last April with NTS (National Technical Systems), a US-based testing and certification organization.

The testing and certification for RadioPulse's MG2400 verified compliance to the IEEE802.15.4 standard, a prerequisite for ZigBee Alliance's ZigBee platform certification.

A TTA official said "we encourage domestic companies to fully utilize the TTA-NTS ZigBee testing and certification to greatly reduce the cost and trouble for obtaining overseas certification, and greatly contribute to improving the quality of domestic ZigBee devices which will enhance their competitiveness in the global market."

o ZigBee: ZigBee is the name used by ZigBee Alliance that standardizes higher-level protocols and application profiles on the basis of the PHY/MAC layer standardized in IEEE802.15.4. Characterized by low power, small size and low cost, it is capable of transmitting data at 250kbps within the radius of 10-20m on the basis of IEEE802.15.4 and can connect over 65,000 nodes. This ZigBee technology is expected to see wide application in the ubiquitous computing environment, such as intelligent home networks, building and industrial device automation, logistics, environmental monitoring, human interface, healthcare, telematics and military application.

o ZigBee Alliance: Organized in August 2001, it's purpose is to promote the adoption of the industrial standard specifications for low-speed WPAN. To ensure that the ZigBee standard is adopted across the world in relation to wireless control and monitoring applications, it is developing official testing and certification programs as well as technical standards and application profiles for the industrial, commercial and residential markets. The Alliance's standard-based testing and certification programs and easily recognizable logo will make sure that consumers will always choose only those products which satisfy the strict interoperability requirements of the Alliance.
