Researcher Du Jeong Choi Selected as the International WiMAX Certification Body
TTA Testing & Certification Department researcher, Du Jeong Choi, was selected as the WiMAX Certification Body (WCB) by the international WiMAX Forum.
WCB is a certification body that makes the final decision for the award of certification based on the technical documents and test report from WiMAX Forum Designated Certification Laboratory (WFDCL). The role of WCB is important in that he/she basically guarantees compatibility and conformity of WiMAX Forum products.
WiMAX Forum has been accepting candidates for WCB from all around the world, and after thorough interviews, 2 final WCBs were selected at the April 2008 WiMAX Plenary held in Athens Greece. It was first time ever for a Korean to be selected as the WCB, and he is the second to be selected as WCB in the world.
With the TTA researcher being selected as the WCB, TTA can now provide more convenient and speedy testing and certification service for WiMAX manufacturers. This will not only reinvigorate the domestic WiMAX device manufacturing industry, but also pave a way for domestic manufacturers to lead the international WiMAX device market.
