The 8th CJK Standards Meeting


The 8th CJK Meeting on Information and Telecommunication Standards was held from March 31 to April 2 at Okinawa Japan. At this meeting, discussions were made regarding continuous cooperation among the three countries in the IMT-Advanced, Next Generation Network (NGN), and Networked-ID areas. In particular, the three countries agreed to form a special task force group to collaborate on the submission of a common proposal at the ITU-R WP5D meeting that will be held in June at Dubai. The newly created task force group will discuss on the minimum requirements at the June meeting in Korea, and submit an ITU common proposal.

In addition, an agreement was made in the Network ID WG to merge the xCode (Korean proposal) and uCode (Japanese Propsal), and submit a comment proposal at the ITU-T SG15 meeting in April. Moreover, NGN 3rd Stage Test-bed setup and testing specifications were concretized in the NGN WG, where an agreement was made to complete the 3rd stage Test-bed testing by the first half of this year.  

Over 90 experts from China's CCSA (China Communications Standards Association), Japan's TTC (Telelcommunication Technology Committee) and ARIB (Association of Radio Industries and Business), and Korea's TTA attended the meeting. Korean delegates included TTA president Won Sik Kim as the HoD, as well as experts from Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, SK Telecom, and ETRI.
