‘ICT Forum Korea 2013 ’is an annual event hosted by the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning and organized by TTA and Electronic Times to present Korea's de-facto (private) standardization forum activities. This year’s gathering was the thirteenth and was held for two days from September 2nd to the 3rdat COEX in Seoul with around 700 experts attending. The overarching theme for this year was the "Creative Economy and ICT Standardization." There was a full agenda of programs that were divided into six tracks, which were next-generation mobile/wireless communication, next-generation broadcasting, intelligent services, smart computing & networks, and ICT convergence technology & convergence contents. Based on the latest research and information collected, technology and standardization issues associated with all fields of ICT were discussed in depth as they related to the theme of the event.
No fewer than 34 ICT standardization strategy forums were organized including the newly formed 5G Forum, HTML-5 Convergence Technology Forum, Quantum Forum, and Social Communication Network Forum. In addition, domestic and international experts of the highest authority including corporate CTOs, professors and national policy researchers gave presentations covering approx. 50 technical subjects.
Unlike previous years, the opening ceremony for this year included an award ceremony to present prizes to forums of outstanding activities last year. Two Minister of Science, ICT and Future Planning awards were presented, one to Green ICT Forum in International Forum/Consortium category and the other to Smart Convergence Household Appliances Forum in Domestic Forum/Consortium category.
