 The 17th CJK B3G Standards Meeting

 The 17th CJK B3G Meeting, which promotes IMT-Advanced standards collaboration among standards organizations in China, Japan and Korea, took place in Busan from June 6 through 9.

 At this meeting, delegates from the three countries exchanged information on the standardization process of IMT-Advanced (4G) being pursued by the ITU Radiocommunication Sector (ITU-R) and had a comprehensive discussion on plans for future cooperation. Notably, the meeting drafted various joint contributions on the minimum requirements and evaluation methodologies for 4th-generation mobile telecommunications technology, which will be determined during ITU-R WP5D meeting in June at Dubai, and pledged to continue their mutual collaboration at the meeting.

 The documents planned for submission at the upcoming meeting include a joint statement of common understanding on the requirements (IMT.TECH) and evaluation  methodologies (IMT.EVAL) for IMT-Advanced technology, a joint contributions on the methodology of evaluation, and a circular letter requesting the nomination of additional technologies for IMT-Advanced.

 Over 30 experts attended this year’s B3G meeting, from China’s CCSA (China Communications Standards Association), Japan’s ARIB (Association of Radio Industries and Businesses), and Korea’s RRL (Radio Research Laboratory), Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, ETRI (Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute), and TTA (Telecommunications Technology Association).
