In December 2007, TTA reorganized its Standardization Committee to make 7 Technical Committees and 59 Project Groups from its original 4 Technical Committees and 51 Project Groups. And as such, 6 new Project Groups, such as u-Health PG, were created.
To correspond with the converging trend of Biological and Medical field with IT technology, u-Health PG(Chair: Taeg Keun Hwangbo, Kyungwon Univ.) formed a committee to develop requirements for the embodiment of u-Healthcare service as well as plan standardization activities in the areas such as functional structure and interface for u-Health application services.
Additionally, IMT-Advanced PG(Hyeon Woo Lee, Samsung Electronics) was newly created to focus its activities in promoting domestic 4G standards at the ITU-R WP5D 4G standardization process. This PG will not only continue its standardization work carried over from the previous IMT-2000 related standardization activities, but also put its effort in international standardization of domestic standards at ITU-R WP5D/3GPP/3GPP2 as well as CJK B3G meetings.
Also, SOA(Service Oriented Architecture) PG(Eun Ju Kim, NIA) has plans to develop and propagate reference framework and service modeling guideline to domestic SI enterprises this year. In addition, VHO(Vertical HandOver) PG (Chang Min Park, ETRI) will focus its activity in standardizing migration among heterogeneous network environment to cope with the increase in diverse wireless network technology that is spreading in the market.
Particularly, the new WBAN PG(Do Hyeun Kim, Cheju Univ.) will take this opportunity to utilize domestic standards to reactivate international WBAN standardization activities, while reactivation of NGIS PG(Tong Sok Kim, KT) is expected to promote GIS standards in accordance with the 3rd National GIS Basic Plan as well as National GIS Standardization Road Map('07~'12).
