TTA, WPC collaborate on international standardization of wireless charging

The Telecommunications Technology Association (TTA) announced that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) for mutual cooperation and collaboration in standardization in the wireless charging field. Through this MOU, it was agreed to apply the WPC international standards as the TTA standards.

Currently, the WPC international standards are disclosed to member companies only for a fee, and many domestic manufacturers and start-ups pay for their use. Through this MOU, the applied TTA standards can now be provided free of charge to domestic companies.

Companies such as Samsung Electronics, the Korea Electronics Technology Institute, the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute, KAIST, Apple Korea, Intel Korea, Qualcomm Korea, and the Radio Promotion Association are participating in the TTA Wireless Power Transfer Project Group (PG909) standardization committee.

Son, Seung-hyun, President of TTA, said, Wireless charging is a key field in new technology areas such as autonomous driving, electric vehicle charging, and robots, and This MOU with WPC will serve as an opportunity to accelerate the expansion of wireless charging services and the globalization of related infrastructure industries.

President Son added, TTA is providing wireless charging standardization and wireless charging testing and certification services, and based on this, it will contribute to the safe establishment of wireless charging in mobile and various electronic devices used by the general public.
